The children’s studio offers art classes for children between 3 and 12 years. It is situated in the
Botanic Gardens in the West End of Glasgow. In a stimulating playful and creative environment
the children are exposed to a wide range of materials. They are encouraged to explore a variety of different techniques, which will enable them to express their ideas and lay the foundation for further studies.
Gardens and other natural spaces provide an opportunity to observe and experience nature within an
urban environment. The children’s studio offers children the unique opportunity to capture these experiences
and to make work which is rooted in their interaction with nature. The playful exploration of our surroundings
inspires and feeds the children’s imagination and will eventually enhance their creative process with
confidence and joy.
With time, the children learn to closely observe their environment, analyse their findings and
experiment with the material of their choice. They learn to work independently, confidently express
preferences and follow their own interests. They will discover their own modes of translating their
thoughts visually.
In groups of not more than 12, the children are working together or individually, under guidance or
freely depending on the personal needs and character of their work.
