Lorena Lozano Álvarez

Born in Gijón, Asturias, Spain, in 1975

Graduated in Biology, specialised in Botany (Universidad de Oviedo, Asturias, Spain, 1998)

BHons degree in Fine Art, specialised in Environmental Art (Glasgow School of Art, Glasgow University, Scotland, 2006)

From 1998 to 2001worked in the fields of landscaping, social and educational work in Switzerland and Spain (Majorca, Asturias and Toledo).

Moved to Scotland in 2001 and collaborated in a regeneration and community project called The Hidden Gardens (Tramway and Glasgow City Council) and taught visual arts at Tramway Visual Art Studios. Enrolled in Glasgow School of Art and carried out independent artistic projects within the public realm such as Gifts (Glasgow Merchant Square) The Kettle (Island of Skye, Scotland) and Who Is The City (Barcelona).

In 2007 is invited by Glasgow School of Art to support the workshop: "Art through Ecology/ Ecology through Art". Trondheim Academy of Fine Art, Norway, Prominord organisation and British Council in Norway. Visiting artist at Museum Manuel Felguerez, Zacatecas, México, developing graphic work, coordination and tutelage of a course on Public Art and Visual Communication.

Moved to Barcelona in 2008 and worked as a teacher at Universitat Politècnica Catalunya (UPC) and Lexia University (EEUU). Collaborates with the groups Ciutas Ocasionals, Sitesize and Idensitat on artistic and interdisciplinary projects related to the public space and landscape.

Exhibited work at Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art (with International Amnesty), Glasgow Print Studio, Tramway Contemporary Art Gallery, Edinburgh Royal Scottish Academy of Art, Glasgow Mackintosh Museum (with Map Magazine), MUNO gallery, Zacatecas, México and Centre for Contemporary Culture (CCCB) Barcelona.

Collaborated in publications such as Post It City, Ciutats Ocasionals. (Published by CCCB Centro de Cultura Contemporánea and Diputación de Barcelona 2008), SEA VIEW, Sculpture & Environmental Art in Glasgow (Shoel of Mackerel Ed. 2007) and Renga Platform, poetry sessions organised by writer Alec Finlay (Morning Star Books, Edinburgh 2004).

Licenciada en Ciencias Biológicas, Universidad de Oviedo, Asturias, 1998

Licenciada en Environmental Art, Glasgow School of Art, Glasgow University, Escocia, 2006.

Del 1998 al 2001 experiencia profesional en paisajismo y botánica aplicada, trabajo social y educativo en Suiza y España (Mallorca, Toledo y Asturias).

Tanslado a Escocia en 2001 y colaboración en el proyecto de regeneración urbana The Hidden Gardens (Tramway y Ayuntamiento de Glasgow). Tutora de artes visuales aplicadas al medio ambiente en Tramway Visual Art Studios. Comienza estudios en Glasgow School of Art y desarrolla proyectos independientes en el ámbito público tales como Gifts (Glasgow Merchant Square) The Kettle (Isla de Skye, Escocia) y Quién es la Ciudad (Barcelona).

Invitada por Glasgow School of Art al taller: "Arte a través de la Ecología / Ecología a través del Arte ". Trondheim Academy of Fine Art, Norway, Prominord British Council en Noruega y es artista residente en 2007 en Museo Manuel Felguerez, Zacatecas, México (producción gráfica y coordinación de jornadas sobre Arte Público y Comunicación Visual).

Vive en Barcelona desde 2008 donde trabaja como profesora en la Universitat Politècnica Catalunya (UPC) y Lexia University (EEUU) en programas de intercambios internacionales. Colabora con los grupos Ciutas Ocasionals, Sitesize, Idensitat, en proyectos multidisciplinares de estudio y acción artística en el espacio público y el paisaje.
