The working trademark of Mette-Sofie D. Ambeck is cutting into paper to create artists' books; using the physical structure of the piece to direct the reader through a narrative sequence. Indeed storytelling, typography, image making - and the influence of light on the material structure - are all vital to her work. She has self-published since 1999. Besides having work in international public collections (including Tate, V&A, Manchester Metropolitan University Special Collections and Australian Library of Art Heritage Collections, and many more) she is also represented in several international publications. In May 2009 she was awarded a grant by the Danish Arts Foundation to further her work in book arts. She was born in Denmark (1973), but studied Graphic Design at CSM in London between 1996-2000 and is currently living back in Denmark, where she has set up the social online network: www.nordicbookarts.ning.com Her installation: 'Cogs - a Book in the Machine' will this year be on display at Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti in the exhibition:'Open Book: An International Survey of Experimental Books'. |
