A Shoal of Mackerel was started in March 2004 by Petra-Maria Saarinen, Cecilia Stenbom & Harald Melrose Turek.
Currently A Shoal of Mackerel is run by Alex Bettencourt, Mari Lagerquist, Lina Persson & Harald Melrose Turek.

All are practicing artists and have been making artists books independently of each other for a good while.
Whereas Harald & Alex are based in Glasgow, Mari & Lina are based in G��teborg.
