A desire to share my words and an urge to make things result in hand made single poem books, collections and collages of prints and text. Reading a single poem in a miniature book slows the reader and enables a more intimate and intense contemplation of its meaning. A poem in a collection can get lost in the wake of previous ones.
My books are printed on art papers, hand stitched and embellished with my own photographs. If they are ephemeral because of their scale and materials it does not matter, so long as the words and ideas resonate in the memory. Each copy is unique, all are signed.
Before marrying a Scot and moving to Scotland in 2006, I lived and worked in Yorkshire as an art critic, gallery owner, curator, writer and poet (as Mary Sara).
