Neil Thain-Gray, Artist/Photographer

Artist/Photographer Neil Thain-Gray, 34, graduated with a 1st Class Honours in Applied Arts in 2002.  He subsequently followed in family tradition by picking up a camera and began to photographically document his perception of the world.

Themes of impermanence, the geometry of the built environment, erosion and corrosion of surfaces, fragility of abandoned artifacts, layering of paint, markings and symbols, physical evidence of human existence.

Neil approaches each framed object with a natural eye for the ‘right’ proportions and a philosophical sensitivity.

This new body of work places a series of those photographs within the genre of the Artist Book, a meeting of his three-dimensional craft training and his ability to capture the visual world in two dimensions with a unique creative tact.
